THE COVE
A collaboration with Wolveridge Architects on their own family home, the Cove is defined by the architects single guiding principle: enoughness.
On a challenging battleaxe allotment, the vision called for purposeful restraint over extravagance. Working backwards from the site's unique geometry, 180 square metres of thoughtfully designed living unfolds across three bedrooms, guest retreat and a generous open plan kitchen, dining and living zone that opens directly onto the sheltered outdoor cove. This clarity of vision allowed us to focus on what truly matters: quality materials, considered detailing and efficient construction. Every material was chosen for both aesthetic calm and durability. Timber cladding weathers naturally into its environment, textured finishes disguise the marks of family life, terrazzo conceals coastal sand. Each selection was made to deliver genuine value without unnecessary expense, performing beautifully under the realities of daily living while keeping the aesthetic simple and restful.
Through close collaboration and strategic refinement, we proved that a smaller footprint built with care outperforms a larger home built without vision. A disciplined plan maximises light and connection while streamlining construction and removing unnecessary complexity. The outcome is a home that feels spacious precisely because nothing has been wasted and everything serves a purpose.
